Role Description

The Head of Department (Behavioural and Clinical Psychology) will oversee the psychological and behavioural services of the India Autism Center, ensuring the delivery of evidence-based assessments, therapy, and research. The HOD will provide clinical leadership, governance, and supervision to a team of psychologists and counsellors, ensuring interventions adhere to RCI, NICE, and APA standards.

This position demands a senior clinical leader capable of integrating therapeutic frameworks (CBT, ABA, DBT, ACT, and Positive Behaviour Support) within a person-centered and neurodiversity-affirming approach.

Core Responsibilities

1. Clinical Leadership and Governance

  • Develop and oversee Gold Standard psychological assessment and intervention frameworks.
  • Ensure adherence to ethical and professional standards of RCI and APA.
  • Conduct regular supervision, case audits, and clinical reviews.
  • Integrate trauma-informed and strength-based therapeutic models.

2. Service Delivery and Supervision

  • Oversee psychological assessments (developmental, cognitive, adaptive, behavioural, emotional).
  • Supervise interventions such as TEACH, ABA, Behaviour Therapy, and family counselling.
  • Guide the MDT in behavioural goal-setting and progress evaluation.

3. Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Work closely with Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Special Education teams for holistic care planning.
  • Support integration of behaviour plans in educational and vocational contexts.

4. Research, Training, and Innovation

  • Lead applied research projects in neuropsychology and behavioural science.
  • Conduct in-house training and workshops on therapeutic techniques and clinical ethics.
  • Present findings in conferences and contribute to publications.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of psychological diagnostics and therapeutic interventions.
  • Strong leadership, supervision, and mentoring abilities.
  • Research aptitude and ability to integrate clinical data into outcome evaluation.
  • High emotional intelligence, ethics, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Clinical Psychology.
  • Registration with RCI (mandatory for clinical practice).

Professional Experience

  • 10–15 years of experience as a manager of clinical psychology services or behavioural therapy departments.
  • Expertise in neurodevelopmental disorders and evidence-based psychotherapies.
