Junior Engineer

Role Description

The Junior Engineer will support project planning, cost management, and contract administration for construction projects. Key responsibilities include assisting with schedule preparation, progress tracking, documentation, and coordination with site teams. The role requires proficiency in MS Project, AutoCAD, and MS Office, along with a strong understanding of engineering principles, documentation practices, and project coordination.

Core Responsibilities

1. Planning Support:

  • Assist in preparing project schedules using MS Project/Primavera (P6) or similar tools.
  • Track project progress and update schedules regularly.
  • Support the development of baseline programs and monthly lookahead plans.
  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly progress reports and dashboards.
  • Coordinate with site teams to collect progress data and verify actual status.

2. Contracts & Cost Management:

  • Assist in contract documentation including drafting, evaluation, and administration.
  • Support in preparation and review of Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and cost estimates.
  • Assist in tracking contractual milestones, variations, and extensions of time (EOT).
  • Help in maintaining contractual correspondence with clients and contractors.

3. Documentation & Coordination:

  • Maintain updated records of drawings, approvals, and contract documents.
  • Support the tendering process by assisting in bid evaluations and comparisons.
  • Liaise with site execution teams to gather inputs for planning and contractual claims.
  • Ensure compliance with project standards, safety, and quality requirements.

Requirements

Key Qualities

  • Basic knowledge of MS Project and AutoCAD is required.
  • Understanding of construction contracts  is an added advantage.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
  • 0–3 years of experience in construction planning and contract administration.
