Especially if your child is on the spectrum and you’re looking for autism centers in india.
They are few and far between.
And that is why our team at India Autism Centre in Kolkata, have committed to help you make this process more seamless.
We are deeply invested in the sole purpose of supporting, assisting and empowering you and your family, while providing you with the best autism support in India. These treatments aren’t meant to work as a cure for any individual. Rather they are interventions that will improve the quality of life for those on the spectrum only.
Our story so far:
We are a non-profit organization based in Kolkata, founded in 2019. The incentive behind establishing the India Autism Center was personal since our founders, Mr. Suresh Somani and his wife Mrs. Namita Somani are parents to a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The challenges and struggles they faced while parenting a child with a neurodevelopmental disorder led to Mrs. Namita Somani setting up the Amrit Somani Memorial Center in 2008.
While providing interventions to 100+ special students, it came to our notice that the increasingly urgent and critical needs of the ASD community in India were far beyond what ASMC could take on.
This led to the birth of the India Autism Center and our journey towards becoming the best autism center in India to provide autism intervention.
Why should you choose India Autism Center for your family member?
Autism is not a “one size fits all” disorder and so autism therapy centers offering the same treatment and interventions for every child is a big red flag.
Every person is impacted differently, and every boy or girl with ASD will have different educational and therapeutic needs.
Our staff prioritizes the individual and their family according to their needs.
At our autism therapy center in India we plan to offer a wide range of clinical interventions that are essential for the holistic development of autistic individuals.
We prioritize occupational therapy, which is aimed at learning essential life skills and encouraging independence, with the goal of living a good life. Our experts are trained to work with individuals to boost their sensory integration, motor skills and other fine skills.
We aim to offer various types of interventions and therapies including clinical and therapeutic. Our in-house faculty of experienced teachers and therapists will work to empower those with ASD. At the same time, our 24/7 medical facilities and multiple housing units on the campus will create a supportive and safe environment.
Autism doesn’t come with an instruction manual.
It comes with a family who is resilient.
We want to dedicatedly support the autistic individual and enable their parents, teachers and caregivers with the required skills and tools. The goal is to optimize the autistic individual’s ecosystem.
Our residential programmes will include family housing and daytime support.
We have seen first-hand, the challenges faced by families who have members with disabilities, and their struggles to receive care and support. We recognise the value of a family life without boundaries, and its power to heal.
There is a current gap in autism care provided by autism centers in India where there is no institutional support for the families of the autism impacted individuals.
We strive to create a community at our autism center that can address the real problems faced by families impacted by ASD. “Samaavesh”- a residential campus is currently being built to create a space where boundaries between families and their children on the spectrum are broken.
Samaavesh will have three types of programmes- two of which are residential, while one is daycare. Each of them are designed to cater to the individual and the family’s particular needs.
Our family homes and day care unit is a facility where families who have a neurodiverse member can move into the campus and make it their home.
The impacted individual will attend the daycare services and then return home to their family at the end of the day.
Research is a primary focus at our autism center in India.
Despite having one of the largest number of autistic individuals, India is lagging behind in autism research and has very few autism therapy centers. Most of the clinical research on autism is happening in Europe and the USA and autism centers in India really need to bridge the gap on that end.
One of IAC’s primary concerns is to change this situation, by developing research evidence, capacity and insights for autism in India.
We hope that our research efforts will improve the quality of interventions and services accessible to those on the spectrum. One of our ongoing research projects includes understanding the degree of phenotypic overlap between Parkinson’s disease and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
We expect that such studies will add to currently available data and knowledge about human developmental disorders and spread more awareness on such conditions.
It is our ultimate ambition at India Autism Centre to bring positive change to the current autism landscape of India, with an unblinkered focus on autism treatment.
Our barrier-free, eco-friendly, accessible and secure infrastructure and facilities are being engineered as we speak, to make the neurodiverse person and their family feel safe and well taken care of.
We do hope that you will choose us to assist and be of service to you on your autism journey.
