Role Overview

The Head of Occupational Therapy is responsible for strengthening the quality, consistency, and impact of occupational therapy services at India Autism Center. It enables the organisation to deliver structured, evidence-based, and person-centred interventions for individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions, while contributing to interdisciplinary care models and long-term functional outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Practice & Service Delivery

  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments across sensory integration, motor skills, ADLs, visual–motor integration, and functional participation
  • Design and implement individualised, evidence-based intervention plans
  • Conduct and monitor vision therapy interventions where applicable
  • Ensure therapy plans align with individual goals, functional independence, and quality-of-life outcomes

Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance

  • Maintain high standards in assessments, documentation, and reporting across all cases
  • Integrate assessment and intervention workflows with Clinical Care Software (CCS)
  • Support standardisation of tools, therapy protocols, and documentation practices
  • Participate in clinical audits, case reviews, and supervision processes
  • Ensure adherence to ethical standards, confidentiality protocols, and regulatory guidelines

Clinical Supervision & Team Support

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior occupational therapists and interns
  • Support clinical decision-making in complex cases
  • Contribute to the performance feedback and skill development of team members
  • Promote consistency in therapy delivery across practitioners

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Work closely with psychologists, speech-language pathologists, physiotherapists, special educators, and social workers
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and care planning discussions
  • Contribute to integrated therapy plans and shared outcome tracking
  • Align occupational therapy goals with broader clinical and developmental objectives

Training, Research & Knowledge Development

  • Contribute to internal training sessions, workshops, and capacity-building initiatives
  • Stay updated with advancements in occupational therapy and neurodevelopmental sciences
  • Support data collection, documentation, and research initiatives where applicable
  • Contribute to the development of clinical resources and knowledge frameworks

Family & Caregiver Engagement

  • Support caregiver training and home-based intervention planning
  • Provide clear guidance to families on therapy goals, progress, and continuity strategies
  • Promote neurodiversity-affirming practices in all interactions
  • Contribute to programs supporting functional independence and daily living skills

Key Outcomes

  • Consistent delivery of high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy services
  • Standardised and compliant clinical documentation across cases
  • Measurable improvement in client functional outcomes and therapy goals
  • Effective integration of occupational therapy within multidisciplinary care plans
  • High levels of caregiver understanding, engagement, and satisfaction

Must-Have Requirements

Educational Qualification

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy (MOT / PhD)
  • Valid registration with the relevant regulatory authority
  • Membership with the All India Occupational Therapists’ Association (AIOTA)

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in occupational therapy practice
  • Demonstrated experience working with neurodevelopmental conditions (Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities)
  • Hands-on experience in assessments, intervention planning, and therapy execution

Core Skills

  • Strong grounding in sensory integration, motor development, and functional rehabilitation
  • Ability to deliver structured, evidence-based interventions
  • Strong documentation and case management skills
  • Effective interdisciplinary collaboration and communication

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in multidisciplinary or institutional care settings
  • Exposure to international clinical frameworks and best practices
  • Experience with digital clinical systems or care software
  • Involvement in training, mentoring, or research initiatives
