Role Overview
The Head of Special Education will lead the development and delivery of structured, evidence-based educational programs for neurodivergent learners at India Autism Center (IAC). This role ensures integration of education with clinical and vocational interventions to enable holistic development, independence, and inclusion across the learner lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy & Departmental Leadership
- Lead the vision, planning, and quality assurance framework of the Special Education department
- Align curriculum, IEP frameworks, and teaching methodologies with RCI and global best practices
- Supervise educators, shadow teachers, and coordinators to ensure consistent quality delivery
- Establish structured documentation systems, evaluation cycles, and measurable learning outcomes
- Liaise with Academic Governance bodies for compliance and continuous improvement
2. Program Design & Delivery
- Oversee development and execution of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Transition Plans
- Integrate therapeutic inputs (Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Psychology) into educational planning
- Design and implement functional literacy, numeracy, adaptive behavior, and social skills programs
- Introduce and standardise assistive technologies and inclusive classroom practices
3. Interdisciplinary Coordination
- Collaborate with clinical and therapy teams for aligned intervention goals
- Facilitate multidisciplinary review meetings and student progress tracking
- Support pathways for inclusion into mainstream education and vocational programs
- Ensure continuity across educational, therapeutic, and vocational interventions
4. Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance
- Maintain high standards in assessments, documentation, and reporting across all cases
- Integrate assessment and intervention workflows with Clinical Care Software (CCS)
- Support standardisation of tools, therapy protocols, and documentation practices
- Participate in clinical audits, case reviews, and supervision processes
- Ensure adherence to ethical standards, confidentiality protocols, and regulatory guidelines
5. Training, Research & Capability Building
- Conduct training programs, workshops, and continuous development initiatives for educators
- Lead curriculum reviews and introduce innovative pedagogical approaches
- Support research, documentation, and knowledge development in special education practices
- Represent the department in conferences, accreditation processes, and external forums

Must-Have Requirements
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Special Education / Education with specialization in Disabilities
- Valid RCI registration (mandatory)
- 10+ years of experience in managing academic or rehabilitation education programs
- Proven expertise in IEP design, inclusive education, and curriculum leadership
- Strong experience in team management and multidisciplinary coordination
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in multidisciplinary clinical setups for neurodivergent populations
- Exposure to assistive technologies and inclusive education models
- Strong analytical, documentation, and data tracking capabilities
- Experience in research, training, and program development
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as RCI, NIEPID, NICE, and APA
- Comfortable working with Google Workspace tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides) for documentation, tracking, and reporting
- Openness to adopting new technologies and integrating digital tools into education and clinical workflows
- High adaptability to technology-driven environments and evolving systems
