Role Overview

The Clinical Intern will gain structured, supervised exposure to clinical, research, and multidisciplinary workflows at India Autism Center. The role will support the clinical team in Clinical Care Software (CCS) activities, clinical assessment processes, ICF research, documentation, data recording, and routine departmental responsibilities.

The internship is designed as a progressive 12-week learning and development journey, moving from team and workflow orientation to supervised competency, independent routine responsibilities, and contribution to departmental projects. The intern will work closely with senior clinical and multidisciplinary team members and will be expected to demonstrate professionalism, accuracy, willingness to learn, and increasing ownership of assigned responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical & CCS Exposure

• Participate in orientation and supervised training on Clinical Care Software (CCS).
• Support CCS user acceptance testing (UAT), workflow testing, and documentation activities.
• Practice assigned CCS workflows under supervision.
• Assist with assigned case documentation and entry or review of relevant information.
• Identify and report bugs, usability issues, and workflow gaps.
• Progress toward independently managing routine assigned CCS responsibilities under appropriate supervision.

2. Clinical Assessment & MDT Exposure

• Observe and assist senior clinical team members during clinical assessment sessions.
• Gain exposure to assessment planning, administration, documentation, and follow-up processes.
• Develop an understanding of multidisciplinary roles in clinical decision-making.
• Participate in case discussions, team meetings, and supervised clinical activities as appropriate.
• Coordinate with members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) under guidance.
• Document learning, observations, and feedback from supervised clinical experiences.

3. ICF Research Support

• Assist with ICF research-related data collection and recording.
• Record and organise research data according to defined protocols.
• Review data for completeness and consistency under supervision.
• Coordinate with relevant team members regarding research data requirements.
• Support research documentation and routine data-management activities.

4. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assigned activities.
• Follow relevant SOPs, policies, protocols, and departmental processes.
• Support clinical and research data recording and reporting.
• Ensure assigned records are complete and appropriately maintained.
• Incorporate supervisor feedback to improve documentation quality and accuracy.

5. Team Coordination & Departmental Support

• Participate actively in departmental meetings, orientation sessions, and handholding sessions.
• Understand team structure, roles, responsibilities, and reporting relationships.
• Support routine departmental activities based on team priorities.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and support requirements to supervisors.
• Work collaboratively with clinical, research, administrative, and other relevant team members.

6. Quality Improvement & Project Exposure

• Observe and identify workflow gaps, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Contribute to quality-improvement activities under supervision.
• Participate in an assigned departmental project or initiative during the Contribution phase.
• Support project planning, coordination, documentation, and execution.
• Present or document project learnings, outcomes, and recommendations as appropriate.

Key Outcomes

By the end of the internship, the intern is expected to demonstrate:

• A clear understanding of the multidisciplinary clinical environment and departmental workflows.
• Basic competency in assigned CCS workflows and documentation processes.
• Appropriate supervised exposure to clinical assessment and MDT coordination.
• Accurate participation in ICF research data collection and recording.
• Improved independence, reliability, and ownership of assigned tasks.
• Consistent adherence to documentation, SOP, and reporting requirements.
• Meaningful contribution to an assigned departmental project or quality-improvement initiative.
• Successful completion of the 12-week internship with clearly identified areas for continued learning and development.

Must-Have Requirements

• Pursuing or completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Rehabilitation, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• Genuine interest in clinical practice, autism, neurodevelopmental conditions, and multidisciplinary care.
• Strong willingness to learn and work under supervision.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.
• Basic proficiency in Google Workspace, including Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
• Comfortable using digital tools and willing to learn new clinical and research software.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Professional, responsible, and respectful approach to working in a clinical environment.

Preferred Skills

• Prior exposure to clinical, research, psychology, healthcare, rehabilitation, or special education settings.
• Basic understanding of autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions.
• Exposure to psychological or clinical assessment processes.
• Familiarity with research data collection or documentation.
• Basic data-management and organisational skills.
• Interest in clinical technology and digital healthcare systems.
• Ability to take feedback positively and apply learning to subsequent tasks.
• Initiative to identify problems and seek appropriate guidance.
