Bringing organisations, professionals and families together to explore better pathways for lifelong support for autistic persons.
What happened in the event?
On 12 September 2026, India Autism Center (IAC) participated in the ALFOC Regional Conclave in Lucknow, a platform that brought together organisations working in residential and assisted living to exchange ideas, discuss best practices and explore approaches to lifelong planning for autistic persons.
The conclave saw participation from several organisations across the country, including Parivaar Autism Charitable Trust (Jaipur), Assisted Living for Autistic Persons (Delhi), Samarth Assisted Living (Dehradun) and Navottham (Jabalpur). Their participation created an opportunity to share experiences, understand different assisted living models and discuss the evolving needs of individuals and families.
As part of the conclave, IAC introduced Samaavesh, its residential care facility, to families and professionals in Uttar Pradesh who were learning about the organisation for the first time. The interactions provided an opportunity to explain IAC’s approach to residential care and lifelong support while connecting with families exploring long-term options for their loved ones.
Conversations with families also gave IAC valuable insight into some of the concerns that shape their future planning. Questions around independence, financial preparedness, continuity of care and the availability of reliable support remain central to many families considering assisted living options.
Beyond introducing Samaavesh, the conclave helped IAC understand the needs and expectations of families in a new region. It also strengthened the organisation’s presence within the Uttar Pradesh disability ecosystem and opened up possibilities for future referrals, professional connections and institutional partnerships.
Key Takeaway
A key takeaway from the conclave was that lifelong care requires more than finding a residential facility. It calls for careful planning around independence, financial security and continuity of support. Families need to understand their options, while organisations must work together to build a stronger support network that can respond to these needs over time.
Through its participation in ALFOC Lucknow Chapter 2026, IAC reaffirmed the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in advancing assisted living opportunities and creating more sustainable futures for autistic persons and their families.
